In this episode of EmpowHER's "HER Health Minute," Dr. Connie Mariano discusses how to deal with sinus inflammation.
Dealing with sinus problems, you are not alone. I am Dr. Connie Mariano, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, and according to the University of Maryland Medical Center at least 30 million Americans-a-year suffer from sinusitis.
Sinus inflammation is caused by either allergies or infections. Symptoms include a stuffy nose with yellow or green mucus, a headache especially around the eyes, coughing and a fever.
Sinus infections are caused by a virus, bacteria or fungus. Remember, antibiotics are only effective against sinus infections caused by bacteria. In fact a recent sinus study in France show that 96 percent of patients who took antibiotics, cleared up within ten days, but for those who didn’t take antibiotics, nearly 90 percent also cleared up within ten days.
So make sure to ask your doctor whether antibiotics are really necessary. I am Dr. Connie Mariano with everything you need to know about sinus inflammation.

I'm amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that's both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I came across this in my search for something regarding this.
