Former White House Doctor, Dr. Connie Mariano, returns to share some simple parenting tactics for parents who need advice about parenting.

I'm Dr. Connie Marinao, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, with what you can do about parenting.

Positive parenting practices have a huge impact on both the intellectual and physical success of your kids - that according to a new study by the University College London Medical School.

According to the study, children of all social and economic backgrounds benefit from an intellectual environment at home.

Some of the findings include...teaching your child the colors and how to count. Talking to your child about school. Going to the library, reading to your child, and showing your child that you enjoy reading. Being consistent about discipline and not too harsh. And showing affection.

Childhood obesity is another big problem.

A study from the Netherlands focused on positive parenting practices to promote healthy weight and body image in your children.

Avoid sugary foods and replace with healthier options. Stress the importance of water as a primary drink. By low fat foods. Encourage sports and active family time. And spend quality time with your kids.

While a lot of this information seems like a no-brainer, those parents who put it into practice will see the rewards in their kids. I'm Dr. Connie Mariano with EmpowHER with what you can do about parenting.
