Dr. Ahdoot shares if robot hysterectomy is a commonly performed surgical procedure.
Dr. Ahdoot:
Most hospitals now have the robot available. To put it in comparison, ten years ago only a few number of prostatectomies were being performed via the robot. Now approximately 70-90% of prostate procedures in the country are being performed by the robot.
In a similar context, gynecology is also adopting the robot, and most major hospitals, including Saint John’s Hospital, has the option of robotic surgery, and the most important thing with robotic surgery is to make sure that the patient is the right individual for this particular procedure and also to make sure the surgeon has the right level of expertise.
