Has anyone tried the new Jillian Michaels QuickStart Rapid weight loss program, Maximum strenght fat burner pills, or the Thincare international Jillian Michaels maximum strenght calorie control tablets, or the triple process body detox and clense. If so could you tell me is it safe and is it worth the money?

Dear Frustrated - you have not lost any weight despite eating 1200 calories because you are not eating enough! Jillian's workouts are intense and eating 900 - 1200 calories is like telling your car to run on empty. You must increase your caloric intake by at least 300 calories if you want to start seeing results OR ... eat 1200 calories with 30 minutes of walk - stop working out with Jillian tapes and you will see results. I speak from experience! Stop working out for 1 week and then start again only if you are going to increase your caloric intake.

Stick with green veggies and lean meats...chicken, fish, even red meat is ok. Stay away from rice, bread, potatoes, pasta,....these have a high carbohydrate content. Even an apple has about 40 carbs! Some fruit is high in carbs because of the natural sugars... So staying with lots of vegetables and lean meats is the way to go. It really does work. It is hard to stick with if you are a carb addict....but if you can do it for at least 2 weeks, you will see the craving for the carbs start to disappear! Works everytime!!

Hello Anonymous,
I have been increasing my calorie intake Slightly, and seeing what happens. So far I have been holding steady; not gaining and not loosing. I am such a creature of Habbit, I don't know if I could stop working out for a week. :) But I am increasing calories...slowly. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the advice!

To Frustrated:
The most likely reason you're not losing any weight is that you are actually eating too FEW calories. Your body needs as certain amount to function properly and when you eat less than that, your body kicks into starvation mode and hangs onto all the fat stores it can. Try calculating your resting metabolic rate (or basal metabolic rate) using a formula you can find on google. Then add in a few hundred calories more and stick with that. Never dip below 1200 calories, especially if you are exercising!!! This is very unhealthy. You need more calories to function, and there is no way you can get adequate nutrition like this. Also, you may want to consider going to an endocrinologist. I don't know much about PCOS, but I am aware that it can really alter your hormone levels, which may also contribute to your struggle to lose weight. Good luck, and please stay healthy!

Another thing that people who are calorie counting often overlook is the type of calories they are consuming when they are dieting. We shoot for low fat or fat free, but often that means many unwanted carbs. Our bodies need a healthy balance of fat too. One big thing I have saw when reviewing diet diaries is that people eat low cal, but lack enough protein to keep everything in balance. Protein and carbs both contain 4k/cal per gram, opposed to fat with 9k/cal per gram. So balance that protein out and eat away. Too many veggies and not enough protein can cause breakdown of muscles and slow down your weight loss as well. Eat a healthy balance.

Hello there,
I know what your saying about not eating "enough Calories". I agree that I think sometimes I have my body in "starvation mode". I have tried slowly adding calories back to my diet before and only end up gaining about 10 pounds. I seem to do ok if I stick to 1200 a day. My sister is a Nurse practitioner and we talk at length about this. Yes PCOS is or can be a balancing hormone nightmare. :) It affects my bodies ability to use insulin to process sugar correctly. So I don't eat many sugars/sweets or starches. The problem I have is I am not considered medically "overweight" so getting insurance to send me to a specialist has been a battle. My OB is helping me with this, but as of now, I have not been able to see one. It is frustrating because the only reason I am not "overweight" is because I go to extremes not to be. :) I would LOVE to sit down with a Nutrition Expert who is aware of the affects of PCOS and find some sort of balance to my diet and exercise life.
I use Jillian Michaels 30 day shred video as part of my workout. I do like it. I didn't shred, but I like the routines. :) I am glad the suppliments are working for some people!

Thanks for your comments!

So your post was from September 2nd. How have you been doing since then? I just started the pills and I would love to hear how it is working for you.

Jillian Michaels has a weight loss web site you might be interested in --

http://www.jillianmichaels.com/

Michaels is about "real weight loss for real people," as you probably know if you've watched her work with the contestants on The Biggest Loser. She has a LOT of information on her web site about healthy activity and weight loss, and a daily email newsletter you can sign up to receive.

She does sell her weight-loss supplements (in addition to her books and other diet- and fitness-related products) on her website. Her supplements are designed "to restrict your calorie intake automatically," which means, basically, that when you take them before a meal, they help you feel full. The products are a bit pricey -- $30, $40 and $60, for a 14-day supply. I can't give you any research or information on how safe they are because the website doesn't list the ingredients. But maybe someone who's tried them will get online here and let us know.

In the meantime, here's a SELF magazine article about Michaels' own diet:
