Sexual Health Quiz: Test Your Knowledge on this "Dry" Subject!
1. How would you describe/define the following terms?
- Dry Humping
- Dry Sex
- Dry Intercourse
2. What specific behaviors am I engaging in if I do any of the following?
- Dry Humping
- Dry Sex
- Dry Intercourse
3. Can you "get" pregnant from any of the following sexual activities?
- Dry Humping
- Dry Sex
- Dry Intercourse
4. Can you spread or contract an STI/STD from any of the following sexual behaviors? (STI/STD = sexually transmitted infections or diseases)
- Dry Humping
- Dry Sex
- Dry Intercourse
ANSWERS:
1. Dry= No Bodily Fluid Contact
The word "dry" means that there is no bodily fluid exchange or contact, including fluids or lubrication from the penis, vagina, anus or mouth. These specifically can include pre-ejaculatory fluid ("pre-cum"), ejaculatory fluid or "ejaculation" or "cum", vaginal lubrication or vaginal secretions.
"Dry humping" and "dry sex" can be summed up by using the term: "outercourse".
There is actually no such thing as "dry intercourse", as penetration can never be considered a "dry" activity as there is natural lubrication from your body that is considered a "bodily fluid".
2. Outercourse can include:
- massaging, touching
- masturbation
- body rubbing, humping or "going through motions" of sex while fully clothed (genitals are fully covered)...most commonly called "dry humping"
Outercourse can not include:
- penetration of penis into vagina, anus or mouth
- body rubbing while clothed, but some "slippage" of clothing (underwear, specifically)
- ejaculation near vagina, even while covered, with chance of semen spilling over clothing
3. No, Outercourse would not lead to pregnancy
As explained above, outercourse does not involve the contact or exchange of any bodily fluids, and therefore, would not create a risk for pregnancy
4. Yes, Outercourse may still carry the risk of spreading or contracting an STI/STD
The word "dry" is important when talking about pregnancy and STIs/STDs, as Outercourse is a Good Safer Sex Option, but is not 100% "safe".
Safer Sex is any sexual behavior that reduces your risk for infection or pregnancy. Although most STDs/STIs are spread through exchange of bodily fluids, some are transmitted from skin-to-skin contact (meaning: you don't have to have intercourse/penetration to become infected with an STD/STI). The skin-to-skin contact through outercourse can be a risk for STD/STI.
Lastly,
What are the Benefits of Outercourse (for two consenting adults?)
- Pleasurable form of sexual expression and intimacy
- Type of "safer sex" without need for contraception (for pregnancy prevention)
- Lower risk for contracting or spreading STIs or STDs (sexually transmitted infections or diseases)
- No risk for pregnancy
- It can be a sexual behavior that is pleasurable, exciting and not stress-inducing (from the point of view of women, wondering if they are pregnant)

Hello Anonymous,
There was no chance of you becoming pregnant if you did not have unprotected vaginal intercourse. No penetration with no ejaculation poses no risk.

Hello Anonymous,
She did not become pregnant. Her period proved that.
Some women may have spotting during their pregnancies. But, if a woman has a period during her pregnancy, that is the lining of her uterus is shed, she is having a miscarriage.

Hi! I am not sure if I am paranoid or if I should be worried.
April 25, 2017 - 4:18pmMy boyfriend and I have dry humped numerous times while I am fully clothed (underwear and shorts) and he either has shorts and boxers or just his boxers. My underwear has become wet (from my own bodily fluids) and sometimes I have noticed that his boxers are wet as well. No penetration has ever occurred, we have always had some form of clothing on but I am worried about the risk of pregnancy. I am supposed to be getting my period this week and am experiencing some cramps, breast sensitivity, and fatigue (could this possibly be to my period coming? I've been experienced all of these from my period before)

Hello. I'm worried right now that I could be pregnant. I'm around 17-18 and a few weeks ago (specifically three or two) my boyfriend and I were dry humping and he was wearing jeans and briefs, and I was wearing a short skirt and my underwear. He didn't unzip and we didn't take anything off but afterwards we noticed that his pants were wet, not sure if it was cum or precum. I'm around three days late for my period, and I'm getting abdominal cramps, and my breasts feel a little tender. There's also the issue that I'm getting a little "gassy" and I get random food cravings and vomitting urges/nausea, though those usually come with my PMS, too. I'm not really experiencing the whole needing to pee frequently and aversion to certain foods or smells though. I'm really worried and stressed? Could I be pregnant? I can't buy a pregnancy test from the drug store so I'm really worried. I need a response ASAP huhuhu :"(

So im a little nervous. sunday of last week I was messing around with my boyfriend and i started sucking him off. he came on my boobs and some of it got on the sweatpants i was wearing. I didnt have any underwear on. the sweatpants were too big on me, so it wasnt really on my crotch area. as soon as i was home (maybe about 15 min later) i washed my hands, took off the sweatpants, washed my thighs off just in case. I checked the inside of the sweatpants and I couldnt see any stain so it didnt look like any soaked through. my period will be towards the end of this month, but my boobs are a little sore now. how at risk am I to be pregnant?

so I'm really scared. The other day my boyfriend and I our genitals were touching for a while and he said he didn't ejaculate or anything. And my period is supposed to be coming in 13 days. If I get my period does it mean I am safe from pregnancy??

Hello!
So on April 1st, my boyfriend and I were cuddling and I happened to have just rubbed his penis under the sheet of my blankets. We were in a laying position. He had his pants down and I was wearing a spandex (made of 75% polymer) with no underwear on. KEEP IN MIND that I was "wet" while I was rubbing his penis. When he came, I aimed his penis directly up to the sheet of my blanket at first and then to his shirt. His ejeculation went on his belly of his shirt, some went on my upper hip (like near my belly button i think) and right in between our waist, there was his sperm on the was his ejeculation as well. So what I'm wondering in this scenario, what are the chances of me being pregnant? Most of his ejeculation went on the sheet. However, I'm scared if some went near my vagina fluid stained on my spandex. Hopefully this was enough informstion. Also, the day after , i felt that my breast was sore and my lower left abdominal was bothersome, is it just me being paranoid? Since I don't think symptoms of pregnancy can be shown just after a day. thank you!

Hello Anonymous,
The next day was far too soon to have any early pregnancy symptoms.
From what you shared, I do not see any risk for becoming pregnant. Without semen coming in direct contact with your pubic area and certainly without penetration of his penis in your vagina with ejaculation, there was no risk.
Getting your next period will give you the answer.
