What is a cheap alternative to a Bosu ball?

I exercise at home and the programme I have requires a Bosu Ball. These are extremely expensive in South Africa and am looking for a cheap alternative to use at home.

Yes. There is a very cheap alternative, one that requires you to not pay a dime. Take a pillow and stand on it with your eyes closed. Doing that will replicate the wobbliness of a bosu dome. If it is not challenging enough, then up the ante by stacking a second pillow on top of the first. This is a super cheap way to mimic the balance experience of a bosu dome. The nice thing is that you can keep increasing the challenge with nothing more than pillows, cushions, and the like. If you are really getting good at standing on both feet, then stand on one foot with your eyes closed. A word of caution with this one. Start back on just one pillow, because standing on one-foot with your eyes closed is a totally different game field.

Try the Reebok balance Board . See if you can use this to take place of that . It is under $30.00

You can use a pogo ball. Here is the website that you can find them at:

I hurt my ankle once and a pyshiotherapist told me to use a pillow to balance on with one foot to strengthen the muscles...so why not the rest of the body like the ball?

Buy a little balance ball, like a Gofit exercise ball. Get a piece of wood and place it on the exercise ball. Balancing on the wood feels just like a bosu ball, if not harder.

I haven't tried this but it looks like a much more affordable device. It's called: SPRI DX-14R Black Xerdisc : listed here; http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CP9526/?tag=bikinibuys-20
Please post a review if you get one before I do. Good luck. Happy New Year.

Hi Anonymous

I did a lot of looking around and reading this morning, but I cannot find a good answer to your question. The Bosu is like a ball cut in half and mounted on a board, but I don't seem to be able to find a cheap alternative or instructions on how to make one. Perhaps one of our members will have an idea.

Good luck. I'm sure someone will chime in on this.
