Dr. Atiemo:
I think what makes the cardiology team at Banner Thunderbird so special is essentially the breadth of experience, the background and training of the extremely qualified individuals who are here, and really I think just the strong desire to make a difference in the community.

I’ll give you as an example; I am a founding member of the Banner Thunderbird Education and Support Group, which is a program that we started here at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.

This is a free program, which is available to members of the community. We focus on teaching members about heart disease and we also offer a support group session to allow patients to share their own insights and experiences with each other. We found that this is incredibly beneficial for patients and we certainly encourage more to it to participate.

About Dr. Andrew D. Atiemo, M.D., F.A.C.C.:
Dr. Atiemo is a cardiologist on staff at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ. After completing his medical education at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Atiemo trained in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard teaching hospital. His passion for cardiology lead him to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he trained in general cardiology and interventional cardiology.
