Dr. Andrew D. Atiemo
Dr. Atiemo is a cardiologist on staff at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Ariz. After completing his medical education at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Atiemo trained in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard teaching hospital. His passion for cardiology lead him to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he trained in general cardiology and interventional cardiology. During his time at this world-renowned center, Dr. Atiemo has performed more than 400 heart catheterizations and authored publications in several peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Atiemo is fellowship trained in general cardiology and interventional cardiology. He performs diagnostic right and left heart catheterizations, and interventional coronary procedures including balloon angioplasty and stenting, cutting balloon angioplasty, and rheolytic thrombectomy (Angiojet). His other clinical interests include management of deep venous thrombosis/pulmonary embolism, acute coronary syndromes, and preventive cardiology. Dr. Atiemo is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. He has a strong interest in general cardiology in addition to interventional cardiology.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Atiemo enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and traveling. He enjoys sports and fitness activities including cycling, basketball, and weight training.
