Rebecca recalls her appointment with the cardiologist that confirmed she did have microvascular heart disease.
Rebecca:
So the treatment that I finally did come into having was, I found a doctor who specialized in women’s heart care and the first testing I had that actually confirmed what I thought to be the case was an angiogram with adenosine which is used to stress the heart in such a way that it can tell if the microvascular area of your heart is in fact affected, and I’ll never forget, when I woke up on the angiogram table and I had my two doctors above me and she goes, “Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is we know what’s wrong with your heart. The bad news is you have heart disease.”
So then we went to further discussion about what kind of heart disease it was. It’s microvascular. What does that mean for me? What kind of limitations might this present? But the time that she spent with me in explaining everything to me with that particular visit and follow-up visits is the kind of doctor that I want everybody to find.
