Hi, I'm just asking for some tips that I can use to decrease the pain in my leg calf after I get a charley horse or if there is anything I can do to prevent them from happening. I get them almost every day during certain periods of time. For about a week or so I get them every day or every other day, then I wont get them at all or I wont get them on a regular basis for about a month or two. Somtimes after I get them my leg is sore anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. I get them right after I wake up whether its the middle of the night or the morning. They seem to occur more over the summer or on the weekends when I don't do as much activity. Also I'm a 14 year old female if that makes any difference.

Hi again yoyoyo,
As I said earlier, try hydrating yourself and taking in the potassium. The best thing to do is stop them before they even happen as after they already occur, you will have the residual pain as your leg muscles.
Here is some information I found for you from Google Health. At the first sign of a muscle spasm, stop your activity and try stretching and massaging the affected muscle. Heat will relax the muscle at first, although ice may be helpful after the first spasm and when the pain has improved. If the muscle is still sore, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications can help with pain. In more severe cases, your health care provider can prescribe antispasm medications. https://health.google.com/health/ref/Charley+horse.
Maybe this will be helpful until you get yourself hydrated. If this persists, please seek physicians assistance as we can only help you with your answers although we are not physicians and cannot diagnose you.
Let us know.

I will. Also, do you know if there is anything I can do to reduce the pain after I get one. My leg is still sore, from a few days ago, as I speak.

Hi yoyoyo,
Thank you for such a great question. Charley horses can be very painful and a horrible eye opener in the middle of the night. Have you been exercising? Usually, they are common after you exercise or are lacking potassium in your diet. Staying hydrated and eating bananas should certainly help since you are only 14 years old, you may just be lacking in these things. If the leg cramps persist, you should certainly seek a physicians help but try drinking lots of water and eating bananas. That may help you.
Here is more information about leg cramps from the Mayo Clinic also that may be helpful

I hope this helps. Keep us updated.
