Dear T,
Thank you so much for visiting the website and for posting your question here. I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this every month right before your period. I noticed that you said you take medicine for it and that helps, and I'm glad to hear that you can get at least some relief from the itching and burning. Can you tell us what the medicine is called? Do the symptoms go away once your period starts?
I found what Alysia K. wrote to be very interesting. I once read an article about how the pH in the vagina can change at different parts of our cycle (pH measures how acidic or "basic" something is--pure drinking water is a neutral 7 pH). And so Alysia K. writing about her system being acidic really rang a bell with me. This could very well be what is going on with you.
I think her suggestions are excellent and like she said, they are worth a try. Please write back when you can to let us know how you are doing. Thank you so much for coming here for help, and come on back anytime! Big hugs, Michelle

I'm wondering if it's a bacterial infection that you get, since you can associate it with your period. Has your doctor mentioned anything like that? Do you notice any raw spots or bumps that will go away after your period?

I used to get this sort of infection, too. What I found helpful was to use baby bath, instead of my regular bath gel in the shower, and clean the area as thoroughly as possible. Then, I used a feminine powder to try to keep the area as dry as possible. It also helped to avoid spicy and acidic foods. Finally, I wore natural fibers, not synthetic (we didn't have microfibers or dry-weave undies widely available back in my day).
What I learned was that my own system is highly acidic, and my hormones were going nuts (as to be expected). So, it was all I could do to keep the environment for bacterial growth under control, stay as cool and dry as possible.
My doctor had suggested a baby rash cream, like Desitin, and it seemed to work for me. Worth a try, anyway.
I hope this helps.
