Hi anon,
Thank you for sharing your question with EmpowHER! Great question! At every age group our bodies are changing and that can lead to many biologically and emotional changes.
Especially for women in their early 20s, there are many changes going on. Although you are past puberty changes in your early 20s, there are lots of things changing with your inner body chemistry as well as your emotions. According to a Wall Street Journal article called "Delayed Development: 20-Somethings Blame the Brain," the human brain is still continuing to develop in your early 20s, and most people are better equipped for decision making in the later half of their 20s.
Sometimes all of these emotional and biological changes can be very tough to deal with. Between the ages 18-25, anxiety, depression, stress, alcohol consumption and risk of motor vehicle accidents are at a higher risk, Wall Street Journal said.
Your early 20s can be a big time of change as you may have just graduated college, have more responsibilities and are entering the career world. All of these changes can result in more stress and mood disorders like anxiety and depression. The fact that our brains and internal chemistry are still changing has a huge effect on this too.
Have you started experiencing any biological and emotional changes with your body?
I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have further questions.
