Well, you certainly are active enough. High blood pressure is associated with excessive sodium and reduced potassium in your system. These are two essential electrolytes out of balance. So, I can understand the recommendation to try antacids.

Has your doctor discussed your eating regimen with you?

Yes, my diet is good & sodium, potassium levels etc. have been checked & are good. I seem to be somewhat deficient in vitamin b12, but otherwise have a balanced diet. I stick to local organic fresh foods, primarily prepared at home myself to avoid high sodium, fat & sugar levels. Thank you for your support & suggestions.

I walk, swim, play squash & kickbox. I have spoken to my doctor about this and she suggested I try antacids. It doesn't really feel like indigestion to me, but I'm willing to try.

hmmm... Do you live in a hot and humid climate, by any chance? That makes it hard to do anything outdoors, and cold damp weather could have the same effect upon you. The humidity and dampness makes it harder to breathe.

Do you walk for exercise?

What has your doctor said about this? I'm wondering if your blood pressure medicine is at the root of this issue for you. I'd like to have your question posed to our panel of Experts.

I do have high blood pressure that I have been struggling to get under control with medication. Any physical exercise for more than a couple of minutes seems to bring on the feeling of pressure and it seems to be worse in cold damp weather. It does go away after a couple of minutes of rest. I am generally physically active but that has become more difficult this summer since this started.

Hi, Cathiet:

Rather than throwing darts in the dark as to what could be possible causes, can you tell us a little more about what type of physical exertion brings on this feeling of pressure for you?

Do you have any underlying conditions, like palpitations or high blood pressure?

How good is your physical condition, and are you physically active?
