my boy friend wants to get serious about our relation, taking it to the next step where sexual intercourse is involved. The problem is i get pretty nervous when he brings up the topic, im very comfortable around him and all but when it comes to sex i just freak out about and he tell me its nothing to worry about. A lot of crazy things run through my mind about sex like what if the condom breaks or what if i wont like it, i get really nervous thinking about it i don't feel comfortable talking to my mom about it because it just feels weird. im 18 years of age and my boy friend is 21. its really a big step for me to take, should i get some tips on family planning from the clinic before i take this step just to be on the safe side??? ps: i don't want things to change between him and i if we go through with it.

It sounds like you are not ready. If he really cares about you he will wait. 18 is still young. You have plenty of time.

Hi Keisha lee,
Welcome to EmpowHER. First of all, it's very important to keep in mind the risks of pregnancy and STD's when you engage in intercourse. No one, should pressure you into having sex, if you feel you are not ready or just simply don't want to. It might be good to speak to your mom about it first and explain how you feel. Am sure she can give you a good advice. If you become sexually active, it's important to use protection such as condoms to avoid any STD's, some people can carry STD's without any symptoms. Also, you should see your doctor, to help you find the right birth control treatment for you.
Best,
Daisy
