I have rented at same place for 9 years, rust stain on glass microwave door when I moved in. The past 4 years my eyes burn a lot and eye dr's couldn't cure, then in last 9 months ive been feeling brain fog and dizziness as well and after a lot of research think it may be the rust in glass microwave door as I cook below it on stove about 5 days a week, steam from boiling vegetables rises and heats the rust on the microwave almost daily. Could this be the cause of my eye and head issues? Does steamed Rust emit a chemical into the air that I am breathing in while cooking every day?

Hello Anon
Thank you for writing.
Rusting appliances should be replaced, if only that's it's a sign they have worn down and have had their time.
As to health hazards - we don't have information on our site to let you know if studies are known to have found this the case. But since you are cooking below it, you wouldn't have much of a risk - your body and food has no contact with the microwave. A rust stain on the window of a microwave isn't likely to cause your symptoms. However, replacing the microwave will let you know if it was the cause.
