Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. I am an ex-smoker and my doctor explained to me that nicotine stays in the body for about 72 hours. The damage to your lungs could take up to 7 years to heal if the damage can be reversable but that depends on longevity of your smoking. I hope this information helps and good luck on quitting smoking.
