Can urine clear acne?

My sister and I were on the internet last night and came across some interesting websites...

The one that stood out most was a discussion board commenting on how urine is the best way to clear your face… Of course my sister and I were laughing like crazy. I mean, who is putting URINE on their face. People were explaining how urine took the redness out of their face, shrunk their pores, and made their skin glow. They claimed the results only took a few days.
As we were reading some of the comments we also found out there are many books out there discussing Urine Therapy. One book went into detail on how to apply this therapy to your face. READY LADIES !! First start with a clean face. Take a cotton ball ,pee on it… Then dab it on your face, wait 10 minutes then wash it off… Most of the comments were anonymous, after all who would tell anybody they were using urine therapy to clear up their acne?

So my question to you is , have you ever heard this before and would you think about using it? It Is Free !

P.S. I’m Going To TRY To Get Somebody In My Family To Try It. LOL.
As For Me, I Will Just Keep On Using Proactive.

I agree with you! I've been trying the UT for few days as well. Earlier I'd tried all kinds of extremely expensive cosmetics, had visited dermatologist and I'd literally desperately used everything that somebody proposed to be used. I have acne and redish itchy face skin, and I wanted it to disappear at any cost. When I found out the UT (I googled it), I must say my reaction was like lol...not possible. But decided to try it. It's been 5 days since I started using it and believe it or not, my face skin has a lighter complexion, the acne begun to disappear and so on. I also massage my whole body with my urine, and I was surprised of how excellent it works. My body skin is now like a baby's one.
I'm attaching a link, so everyone interested can read more about UT.

Oh good grief. What if you have a urine infection or don't drink enough water daily? No Thanks! Hmmm. I'll keep this in mind the next time I kiss someone on the cheek.HaHaHa

It's not as if they would leave the urine on their face, they would use it as a face mask then wash it off.

and to clarify, urine is not a waste, so whoever keeps saying that, needs to do some research.

If you do decide to try urine to treat acne, remember that urine should not be applied to popped acne. Applying urine to open acne wounds may result in serious infection and further skin irritation.

I'm with you, Kinnis, that this seems a little crazy. I don't think I could bring myself to do anything with my urine other than flushing it down the toilet. I'd be interested to hear if you succeed in getting any of your friends or family to try it as a face cleanser....

As crazy as this may sound, the answer is YES, human urine is used as therapy for many conditions including skin care. In alternative medicine and ayurveda (from India) this type of therapy is known as urotherapy and amaroli respectively. We may not be aware but many products use for Hormone Replacement Therapy use horse urine as it contains hormones humans can use. So, why not your own urine!

Human urine contains water and urea but it also contains small quantities of many hormones and metabolites, including corticosteroids. Medical literature shows that urea may offer anti-cancer properties. In addition, the other chemicals in urine might have some effect if ingested. In 1997, Joseph Eldor, of the Theoretical Medicine Institute in Jerusalem, published a paper suggesting that because cancer cells release antigens which appear in the urine, oral autourotherapy could spur the intestinal lymphatic system to produce antibodies against these antigens. Human urine is normally relatively free of bacteria, since the bladder itself is normally a sterile environment, and drinking small amounts of one's own urine is unlikely to be seriously harmful.

I also found some articles that state that human urine has energizing and strengthening properties which make it most useful for treating many deficiencies. It appears that urine can also be used externally as a baldness cure or as a cure for trembling hands or persistent itching, it is probable that is most usual medicinal use is as a drink.

Drinking your own urine is a excellent cure for scurvy, dropsy and jaundice according to many alternative doctors. Wow!
