Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Johnell: What Was Your Impression?

Andrea:
I appreciate Dr. Johnell because I think he did research into what’s best for patients; what are the most effective techniques and what are the safest, and I feel that he and his staff have done that research and implemented it with all of us that are patients.

The reasons that we need to lose weight prior to the first procedure, I really truly believe were for safety for all of us. Dr. Johnell is very comfortable to talk with. He phrased the REALIZE® Band that I had placed as a tool and it’s just really a good description because it is a tool that helped me be successful.

He also emphasized from the very beginning that I needed to make a commitment also, that the band itself was not going to make me lose weight; that I needed to make lifetime changes.

I didn’t feel intimidated by that. I knew I needed to make a commitment to it and I felt like I was going to receive the support along the way to be able to make those changes and make them part of my life.
