Dr. Brazinsky explains when a sleep lab is necessary to assess a woman's quality of sleep.

Dr. Brazinsky:
If you are having trouble getting to sleep or you’re waking up early in the morning you have more of an insomnia picture, you really don’t need a sleep study. But if you are either a heavy snorer or you’re sleepy during the day time and it’s unexplained, you need to see someone who knows about sleep, a sleep specialist and usually the first test we do is a diagnostic sleep study.

We need to know why what’s going on. Are you sleeping at night, and if you’re sleeping at night, what is the quality of your sleep?
