Today I did something I haven't done in a long time. I woke up early, dusted off my elliptical trainer and exercised for about 20 minutes. I listened to a recording of a conference call I missed and felt like I was getting a great start to the day.

The kids were even up and ready for school early. They were outside playing with their friends about 20 minutes before it was time to go. Usually I have to lure them away from their toys and negotiate getting dressed and out the door. It was a pleasant change :)

This gives me hope that I will be able to implement my new routine more easily than I realized. I've been telling myself for the past few weeks that I need to get up earlier and get some exercise first thing in the morning, but I've been lazy and reluctant to get out of bed. I've also used the excuse that the kids are going to bother me, but it wasn't an issue this morning.

It goes to show that a lot of times what is stopping us from moving forward is ourselves and the little voice inside our head. When you can say yes to something and ignore that little voice, some great things can happen.
