Tips for Pulling out Your Child’s Loose Tooth
It is common that we pull out our loose teeth because of the annoyance of them. Tooth loosening happens not only for children but also might for an adult. There are many reasons for tooth loosening for young adults. Some of them are from diseases and some bad eating habits that might cause loose teeth. When anyone doesn’t brush their teeth properly, then the existing food on the surfaces of the teeth damage them and feeds bacteria. These bacteria slowly eat away the enamel of the tooth and the gums covering the teeth swell and separate from the teeth, which causes loose teeth and pain. For children, it is the process of losing teeth. When a child is about six to seven years old, then usually their teeth, one by one, loosen and can be pulled out. After this, their adult teeth grow in. When any tooth has been loosened, the annoyance of it is too great for some people. In adults, it’s a very painful and uneasy condition. To get rid of this trouble, the sufferer finds someone to pull it out because they could not stand the anguish of it. Therefore, they get help from a doctor or any dentist. But in children, the process is much easier. The teeth loosen naturally and prepare to fall out, so anyone can easily pull them once they’re ready.
When you notice that your child’s tooth is shaking and wiggling, you should ask your child to wiggle the tooth frequently. The looser it gets, the easier it will be to pull. Of course, if it’s an adult tooth or the tooth is painful when wiggled, you should call your dentist instead. You can also wash your hands thoroughly, then show your child how to wiggle and further loosen the tooth or do it for them.
As the tooth loosens, there may be instances of mild pain. That isn’t anything to worry about. The root has to weaken and ready to fall out. The pain should pass quickly; then your child can continue to wiggle it. Most children will poke at a loose tooth with their tongue without even thinking about it or wiggle it with their fingers while doing something else. Some foods might hurt too much to eat, like raw carrots; give your child an alternative until the tooth is gone.
When the tooth is very loose, you can pull it out. You should wash your hands with soap and warm water first to be careful of anything toxic that might be on your hands. Then use your thumb and index or middle finger to hold the tooth. Give it a quick twist to break the last connection and pull it out. It’s better if you use cotton or tissue to hold the tooth and pull up it; it makes it less slick. When you would remove it, then you might notice bleeding in the place the tooth was. For that, you need cotton or tissue to hold in place until the blood stops. You could also have your child rinse with a mild saltwater solution. Be ready to do this many more times as your child loses more teeth.
