When I started work as a coach and healer and called myself Play With Katie K, everyone thought I was insane.
They instantly felt like I was sugar coating the things and that I might not be as powerful as those "other" coaches out there.
But when I sat with it and looked closer at who I am and why I made such a choice, I recognized how important play is to all of us and how much vulnerability and truth it calls for.
As someone who has spent time as an actor in both scripted and improv situations, the first thing you learn is that you must be wiling to let go and try things. A censored actor is a limited actor. And without the ability to trust in yourself and take risks, the performance will fall flat and be unrealized.
The same thing is true for us as human beings living our lives. The gift of living "full out" means leaving nothing on the table and never letting fear hold us back. It means going for it 100% and trusting that it will work out and we will always land on our feet. It means being open to making mistakes, and it means paying attention to others and listening with an open heart and mind. Knowing these things makes all the difference in the world for not just having a happy life, but also how to manifest and create the thing we want and deserve.
So maybe now you can begin to imagine how play can help you lighten your own load and help you create the life of your dreams.
Still don't believe me?
Here are a few things to try this week that will add a little play to your life and see if it doesn't liven things up while giving you the room you need to grow.
1) Wear something bold. Or bright. Or just something you love that you might not choose to wear normally. Its like being a kid and going to the store in your superman costume. Just try it. Sometimes I wear a crinoline under my dress. Or an apron while I clean and it changes everything.
2) Dance like no one is watching. Remember as a kid when you just danced because it made you happy? Well you're never too old to dance. So put on your favorite tunes and rock out.
3) Write a story about your life in the future. Make it colorful, bright, bold, imaginative and most importantly... FUN. We are the creator and if we can dream it and believe it- then we can see it. But we must be willing to play a little bit first.
4) Seek out ways to expand your creativity. If we can't create, we are stuck. So sharpen your imagination and creation skills and get to work!
These are my favorite tools I use in my own life and I hope you start using them too!
And when you do, let me know how it goes for you. Play is a SERIOUS business and I want you to start playing your life into reality- TODAY!
