The public learned of the dancer/actor's illness just last year. He thought he would beat it, but no. Born in Houston, Texas, he was probably best known for his role in "Dirty Dancing," a film that developed a sort of cult following. But he had several well-known films to his credit. This is truly sad. We expected it but the media continued to report that he was fighting so hard to beat it that a part of me thought maybe he would. Pancreatic cancer is such a deadly disease I am surprised he made it as long as he did. He was a fighter. I feel for his family, especially his wife-- who has so obviously devoted herself to him.
RIP Patrick Swayze.
