I had a partial Hysterectomy done on Feb. 12th of this year. I had to have a c-section because I had had two previously. I still am in pain, and it's May 2nd. I told my Dr. each time I went in for my post-op check ups that it hurt to go to the bathroom, to exercise, lay certain ways and sit up straight. "He" said it was normal... how would "he" really know? Finally after weeks of complaining to him he ordered me to have an ultrasound, not quickly though, a week later. Sure enough I had a cyst the size of a baseball... all he said to me, "That's not normal." I keep wondering if it was there when I had my Hysterectomy and he missed it somehow. Well, he gave me some medicine to help shrink the cyst, saying that he didn't want to have to put me through more surgery. That medicine made me crazy... literally. I was irritated and very emotional... it was awful, the worst PMS symptoms you could imagine. I ended up consulting a counselor and she looked up the prescription and immediately told me to stop taking it. She said the top side effect was Depression, then Anxiety. I had already been through enough, I didn't need that adding to my emotional state! So, I did stop taking the medicine... by the way I was still in pain this whole time, I had been prescribed Vicodin as well, and if I didn't take it my leg would start to throb. I called my Dr. right after my appt. with my counselor, but it was Friday, they close at noon... So, I waited until Monday to call. I was scheduled for an appt. that Friday... no sense of urgency at all. When I went to that appt. he belittled me, he was actually mad at me for stopping the medication! I told him that I had thought long and hard and I decided I wanted to have my other ovary out... he was disghusted! He said, "That's illogical! You had months to decide whether you wanted a partial Hysterectomy but you chose to keep one ovary!" I told him, "Actually I had about 10 minutes. You had asked me whether I wanted to keep one ovary right before surgery and I had asked you what are the ramifications." He paused and just said, "Oh" Then he proceeded to say, "Well, I can do the surgery, it doesn't effect me one way or the other, I still get paid." That floored me... I was in shock that he could say that to me! I left the office in tears, and I'm a very strong person. I trusted him, and now that trust is out the door. He told me he would set me up with an appt. to see a Radiologist to see about getting my cyst drained... I had to call the Dr.'s office three times before and appt. was set up. They had forgotten about me. Then come to find out the procedure has to be done downtown and Good Sams and not until May 12th! I told the nurse, "I'm in a lot of pain though, isn't there any appt. earlier?" She said I could go to the emergency room if I chose to do so. As I'm writing and reliving this, I still can't believe it! I went to BUNCO last Thursday night and was chatting with some of my neighbors about what was happening, one lady gave me the name of her Dr.'s office, Caring for Women... just women who care for women! I called and have an appt. on Monday! They seem to care about what has been happening with me. So, we'll see. I just thought I'd share my story so far... I was given this website address by my husband's grandmother and I love it! Makes me feel that I'm not alone...
