I was diagnosed 7/09 with IDC Breast Cancer. Stage 1, grade 2. My Cancer was 100% positive to Estrogen and Progesterone properties. I had a test called Oncotype DX and, because my score was low (8) I did not need to do Chemo or Radiation. Currently on Femara 2.5 mg. However this also has it's side affects such as: Horrendous hot flashes, weakening of bone density ect.
I am also have GERD.

Hi Angelica. I was taking Fosamax for bones until, I had a bone density test 1 year ago and, my numbers had gotten worse. I then asked for a Vitamin D check. Well my Vitamn D level was 8-which is very low. They recommend all women now to have a Vitamin D level between 40-60. As a result of the low Vitamin D level, the Oscal Ultra Calcium I had been taking was basically not binding to the bones. Calcium needs Vitamin D levels that are adequate to bind. I started 25000 IU Vitamin D. I did this for about 6 months and now take 1000 IU Vitamin D3 2x a day and recently my Vitamin D level just reached 40:) I now for the bones do an infusion 1x per year at my Oncologists office of Zometa, instead of another pill! I had another bone density scan done last October and my numbers have improved-the T-scores on this. I do not take anything other than Vitamin E 1000 2x per day, with my Calcium for the hot flashes. My oncologists nurse, who herself is a stage 1 Breast Cancer Survivor and is also on the Femara 2.5 said, she took Vitamin E 1000 IU twice a day, and it had helped with the hot flashes. Not totally alleviated them but, has helped. I have found some relief doing this, though not a lot. But I also recently bought some moisture wicking PJ's and, something called: "Neck Buddy" which is a body cooling neck wrap to try and see if these help. The neck wrap you soak in water, take out and it swells and is cold and stays cold for 2-3 days.
April 28, 2011 - 5:17pmI am pretty limited on trying things because, so many herbal type things have estrogen properties in them and, due to my BC being 100% both estrogen and progesterone positive, I can't use these types of things.

Hi Peg, Sorry to hear about your health challenges. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine has been used safely and successfully for generations of women who experience hot flashes and menopause symptoms. I recommend you trying it. The herbs in Menopause Relief Herb Pack from Pacific Herbs do not contain estrogenic properties and are completely safe to use long term.
