If you love potatoes, and french-fries but find that they can be a little too much for your healthy diet to handle, don’t worry! There is a friendlier version of the potato family that can still give you that great, satisfying taste, only it may be a little sweeter! It’s the sweet potato! Not only are sweet potatoes sweet, but they are full of many health benefits! Take a look at the what sweet potatoes can do for you below:
1. Good source of Vitamin C: we all know vitamin C is good for us! In sweet potatoes, vitamin C can help maintain your skin’s elasticity, as well as fight off toxins that could be linked to cancer!
2. Contain Vitamin D: vitamin D helps build up our immune system which keeps us from catching colds and sickness! It also builds our energy levels and lifts our mood! Who knew sweet potatoes could give positive vibes?
3. High in Iron: iron also helps us with energy levels, but iron found in the skin of sweet potatoes helps to reduce stress as well! Feel relaxed after eating a sweet potato for dinner? That’s why!
4.Naturally Sweetened: Sweet potatoes are naturally low in sugar, yet they still have a delicious sweet taste! Adding sweet potatoes to your diet in place or regular potatoes and french fries can help control weight gain!
5. Served Any Way: the best thing about sweet potatoes is there are so many recipes that incorporate them! Sweet potatoes can be grilled, steamed, or even baked! You can add them to soups, salads, and even make desserts out of them! Who wouldn’t say YUM to that!
Of course there are many more great reasons sweet potatoes are good for your health and diet, but I hope you enjoyed the few I’ve listed. Plus, did you know they are also inexpensive? Next time you go out grocery shopping, stock up on these delicious veggies and experience the greatness of the ‘candy’ of the vegetables for yourself!

Hello Casey,
I have made the switch to sweet potatoes. There are still recipes when white potatoes is the starch of choice. But, oven baked sweet potato fries have become a family favorite.
