An animal's fur (and feathers) can collect dust mites, pollen, mold, and other allergens. And any animal that lives in a cage (from birds to gerbils) will produce droppings that can attract mold and dust mites. So, I don't think it's a good idea. However, you can check with your doctor about this. Maybe if the bird is kept away from your father. But typically, it's not advised to have pets with COPD.
