Hi there. So before I begin I would like to mention I have Invisalign. For the past 4-5 days I have noticed a swelling in the upper gum area. It's very apparent, the gum actually reaches down between the teeth almost to the bottom of the teeth. I believe the main problem is behind my teeth; which I cannot see. I can feel a smooth, soft surface. I taste salt and blood. My gums have been bleeding (specifically in this area) excessively (when compared to normal). When I flossed, there was a lot of blood. The next morning, when I took off my invisalign there was blood in them in that area. When brushed my teeth the next night, my gums bled. I didn't brush harshly. I've also noticed my gums on my lower side are bright red, purple, and a little bit of brown (which is normal considering my skin complexion). It also feels like whenever I floss or brush my teeth; my mouth still looks unclean and my breath is still bitter tasting.
Some other things I noticed which may be relevant are: canker sores are the opposite side of my mouth, and a feeling of pinching whenever I have to chew. I clench my teeth at night and put a lot of pressure on my jaw; my jaw has been sore and tender recently.
I just want to know if there's anything I can do to lessen the issue? I will be visiting the dentist next week; I just want to know if there's anything I can do before then.

Hello Mckenzie Lee,
Swelling and bleeding are symptoms to be very concerned about. Call your orthodontist today.
There is obviously a problem which needs to be addressed by dental specialist trained in the use of Invisalign.
