The Mayo Clinic has a great page explaining different diet and lifestyle remedies: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ulcerative-colitis/DS00598/DSECTION=lifestyle-and-home-remedies.

Basically, it is said that what you eat does not necessarily cause this condition, and you may experiment (keeping a food diary would be helpful) with different types of foods to know if they help or worsen your condition. Each individual is different, and adding fiber-rich foods may help you; for others, it worsens their symptoms.

It is best to talk with a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) who specializes in chronic ulcerative colitis, and you can ask your doctor for a referral.
