Your thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate other hormones and functions in your body, and any type of disorder of the thyroid can disrupt the menstrual cycle and cause infertility. Medications to treat thyroid (and other) conditions can also be a cause of infertility. Additionally, when individuals have a thyroid disorder, something else could be the cause of the disorder in the first place, which could also impact the delicate balance of hormones needed for ovulation and menstruation.
Do you have your actual lab results? Do you know what your exact number are for T3, T4, TSH? Did you receive a "full thyroid panel" test? What numbers does your gynecologist think are still low (you said "other stuff"?).
I would not take any medication without knowing the exact lab result number measurements, and what they indicate. Remember--medications also can impact fertility as well. Most importantly: what does your gynecologist think is still low? What medication is s/he suggesting? Does your pediatrician agree that you should be on this medication, and/or does s/he think anything is wrong? Once you know the specific medication, you can begin researching the benefits and possible side effects of the drug (we can help you do this, and provide all the pros/cons). Did your pediatrician "weigh in" with his/her medical expertise why you are having difficulty conceiving? How long have you been trying to become pregnant?
Hope to hear back from you, regarding what other specific information you have regarding your test results--- be sure to ask for a copy of all of your lab results for your personal files.
