Periods can stop for many reasons.
For a sexually active female, pregnancy is the main reason. If you think you could be pregnant, take a test.
For women over 40, peri menopause (the time before menopause)can be a cause. By the 50s, menopause is generally the reason.
Other reasons include a hormonal imbalance, travel, a change in lifestyle or diet, or stress.
Your gynecologist can run some tests to let you know more.
