Under medical care, I am coming off my antidepressant, Zoloft. I am doing a tapper but have been feeling very nauseated all day for the past few days. Is there anything natural or over the counter that I can take to ease this?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

Tapering off antidepressants is the right way to wean so you're off to a good start.

Nausea is a fairly common side effect of taping off these kinds of medications. Up to a quarter of people taking Zoloft experience this when weaning off the medication.

Ginger tea, ginger hard candies and lemon drops can help. Also make sure that when you take Zoloft you take it with food and in the evening so you can sleep through most of the nausea.

If none of the above works, your doctor can give you anti-nausea medication for a short, temporary time.

This nausea should leave within a few weeks or a couple of months at the most. I hope you feel better soon and we wish you the best in health-

Susan
