I'm looking to add certain vitamins into my daily routine. What are the benefits of B vitamins? What is the difference between B12, B6, and other supplements? Any recommendations?

Hello Jenny,
The B complex vitamins include:
B1 (thiamine)
B2 (riboflavin)
B3 (niacin)
B5 (pantothenic acid)
B6
B7 (biotin)
B12
Folic acid
They are essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose, (this provides energy for the body, the breakdown of fats and proteins (which aids the normal functioning of the nervous system), and maintaining muscle tone.
Eating a balanced diet that includes fortified cereals, bread and pasta, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy provides you with an adequate daily intake of the B complex vitamins.
The National Institutes of Health provide dietary supplement fact sheets. Here is the link: http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/list-all/
