I have no one to talk to in the family ...he is 82 now and in reasonable health but I am finding his disinterest in anything I do (he just watches his favourite subject on t.v. most of the day) very depressing and don't invite people round because he makes silly comments all the time. I am six years younger, have a job and reasonably well read now regarding this diagnosis. Any help would be valuable.

For the benefit of our readers, Asperger's Syndrome is a developmental disorder related to autism and characterized by higher than average intellectual ability coupled with impaired social skills and restrictive, repetitive patterns of interest and activities.
Unless your partner gives his GP permission to share his medical information with you, I'm not sure how much information you will get. It's difficult to be in a relationship with someone who has Asperger's. We have a fairly active thread on this subject. You can read through the comments (there are many!) to see how other people are coping in their relationships. Some choose to stay in the relationship, while other's don't.
