Should i do thyroidectomy for small goiter?

I have a small nodule on the right thyroid gland, and It doesn't caused any symptoms. I've been doing some clinically test: TSH, T3, T4 in the normal condition (euthyroid), USG ( Thyroid Nodule 1.8 cm in diameter ), FNAB ( Struma Colloides with cystic degeneration/benign ). My Doctor said, that's just a simple goiter and he suggest me to have a surgery (and it means thyroidectomy). It's so hard to make a decision because Thyroidectomy is freaking me out. Should i do thyroidectomy? Do i have another option? If any, what kind of treatment is suggested?
Please Help,
Best regard, Evelyn.E

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Sometimes if the goiter is too big and it's pressing on your swallowing tube or breathing tube.  Your doctor might order a thyroidectomy.  You need to discuss with your doctor any concerns you might have about treatment options or get a second opinion from another specialist (Endocrinologist)
