I gave birth on the 16 May 2016, i have not seen my period since the birth of my baby and i am breastfeeding but not exclusively, My period came back on the 16 September 2016 it was short and light and lasted 3days, this did not worry me because i had not had been sexually active since giving birth. However on the 02 October early morning my husband and I decided to have sexual intercourse for the 1st time since our 4 months daughter was born. Unfortunately for us the condom broke and we only noticed it when we were done. I took Escapella morning after pill the same day, what are the chances of me being pregnant?

Guide

Hello Anonimous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question if Escapella will work for you.

Escapella is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. It works by preventing ovulation.

My only concern in your situation is that you had your first postpartum period in September and it was light and short. I am wondering if your hormones are back to normal, and if you have started to ovulate again.

Regardless, you will know the pill worked once you have bleeding or your next monthly period. If you do not get a period or bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, call your gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann
