Pain right near vulva/outside of clitoris

Just a couple days ago I began to feel discomfort in my clitoris. With the slightest movement I can feel the pain when I pull up my pants, cross my legs or walk hard. I haven't had sex since January so I don't know why this is happening. Is it an std?

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your concern.

Clitoral pain is a specific subset of vulvodynia. Vulvodynia is chronic vulvar pain without an identifiable cause.

Pain is very localized and feels more like an ache than burning. Aggressive stimulation to the area, tight clothing and straddling injury can lead to clitoral pain. Pain is noted with intercourse, tight clothing, and exercise. Stress usually is noted to aggravate the pain. Sometimes sitting increases the pain.

Anonymous, if the pain persists, worsens or interferes with daily living, please contact your gynecologist to schedule an appointment.

Do you think maybe it's vaginal yeast infection! Even when I move or tense up "down there" I feel that discimfort..I'm just nervous :/

Hi Anonymous,

You would have vaginal itching and a white discharge that resembles cottage cheese if this was a yeast infection.

This is causing you discomfort and anxiety-give your doctor's office a call.
