My 82 year old mother had a colostomy 2 years ago and was doing well til today. I believe she has a blockage, as nothing is going into the bag. hat could caWuse this?

There are a few things that could cause either constipation or a blockage. I think you will find this information helpful at the American Cancer Society: ACS: colostomy bag blockage or constipation.

Diet seems to be the primary culprit,with not enough fluid intake. Hoowever, if there are any signs of swelling, pain or infection, please call your mom's doctor right away. If you suspect an actual blockage (and not just constipation), it is best to contact the doctor for this as well.
