I think I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syindrom.I'm doing a test next month to see if I have other problems or it's just this strange disorder.
I don't suffer from pain or any strange sympton,it's just my belly is more distended and inflated and I feel I have lots os gas moving around my bowels.(Sorry for my vocabulary,I'm Spanish.)
I'm a emotive and nervous person,I had a change in my life sometime ago, moved country, left job,etc...and that's when my problem started, before that,I had an absolutely perfect belly, absolutely flat and beautiful, now my figure is ruined in a way.

I would like to know if this problem can be improved, especially the fact that my belly gets bigger and bigger, but I'm fine in the general sense, absolutely fine.I would also like to know if this disorder can be related to personality,I'm a very self-conscious person and suffer from social phobia.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

Thanks for your reply, sorry I couldn't answer earlier.
I'd like to ask you a question, because I really have doubts about having IBS,I have the test in a few weeks,so we'll see,but at the moment I wonder if it's really that that causes me this bloating in my belly, which in fact is the only thing that worries me,as I really feel well, don't have pain or anything else,,,just from time to time I feel some gas in my bowel, mut not always, the sensation is only thisbig belly, which used to be so flat and nice sometime ago...Can you tell me if just this symptom can be related to IBS? Thanks a lot.

Hi Anonymous

That is one of the symptoms, yes. We have information on the site that may help you. You can read the symptoms and see if they sound familiar: https://www.empowher.com/condition/irritable-bowel-syndrome

Please let us know how the testing goes. Good luck.

Hello Anonymous
First, your English is great! So don't worry about that.
Irritable bowel syndrome is often associated with anxiety issues. There are a few things you can do on your own that may help. Sometimes a few dietary changes improve the symptoms a bit: Increase your fiber intake, meaning more fruits and vegetables, and decrease your fat intake, such as fried food, and dairy products that are not non-fat, and stay away from caffeine because that stimulates and sometimes irritates your gut. Exercise can help as well. Peristalsis, which is what it is called when your intestines move things through, is stimulated by exercise. So even if you do more walking, it will help things move at a more steady rate rather than in fits and starts. Sometimes eating more small regular meals rather than 1 or 2 big meals in a day can help, too. Again, it keeps things moving more steadily.

Stress and anxiety have a strong impact on every part of your body. If you can find something that helps you lower stress, especially with everything you are going through, it will help you feel better in every way. Yoga, biking, dancing, walking or some other kind of exercise that you enjoy will help lower your stress level as well as helping the IBS.

I have a couple of resources on irritable bowel for you: https://www.empowher.com/condition/irritable-bowel-syndrome/definition, http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/ibs_ez/

Good luck and thank you for writing.
