I have not spoken to anyone about this. I cry most of the time because im scared. I dont want anyone to think i am a bad mother or that i am crazy. I love my son! He means more than the world to me! I would never do anything to hurt my son! I just feel that i am not the mother i want to be. I know why i am suffering from this depression but i just dont know how to deal with it. I have tried medication in the past but i dont want to take medication because it usually leads to even worse problems. is there any way i can deal with this without medication?

Hi I_love_him,
Thank you for your post and welcome to EmpowHer! Your little one is so handsome and looks just like mommy! :)
It's very normal to experience the "baby blues" shortly after giving birth but as you may know once it lasts longer than a few days then it is considered PostPartum Depression. I just want you to know that you are not alone and at least 10% of new mommies will be diagnosed with PPD. Women who experience postpartum depression will have alternating good days and bad days. Symptoms can be mild or severe. A few of the symptoms include:
Fatigue
Feelings of sadness
Trouble sleeping and eating
Feelings of guilt
If you still feel like this applies to you, you don't necessarily have to take medications, though it may be recommended. Remember PPD is temporary so you won't have to be on these meds for the rest of your life. Considering alternatives like Support Groups is a good option and you can also seek a counselor. The American Pregnancy Organization has a tool on their site where you can find a counselor in your area and we can help you find support groups in your area as well. Here's their link: http://americanpregnancy.org/members/counselors
Please keep us updated with your progress, hope this helps!
