I was diagnosed with osteopenia when I was 16, and I am now 19 and it progressed into osteoporosis.
My numbers are -2.9 in my neck, -1.6 in my spine, and -2.3 in my hip. I don't know what these numbers really mean for someone my age other than osteoporosis, of course.
My gynecologist suggested Boniva IV or Forteo injections as treatment.
I told her I would have to think about it.
She kept leaving the room to ask another doctor for his opinion (my gynecologist is really young), the other doctor said Reclast. I will not do reclast at all. I have heard too many horror stories, and will not put myself in that possible position.
If anyone has gone through any of these treatments, I would like to hear your experiences.
Thanks!

I have no personal experience with any of these medications, but other members of the EmpowHer community must have experiences that they will share with you.
In the meantime, I would suggest that you do an internet search on each medication. The websites, RxList and Drug.com, are two good sites to get information on mediations. Compare the benefits and side effects of each medication. This may help you reach a decision.
Good luck,
Maryann
