Hi Pallenjk,
April 18, 2011 - 6:59amThank you for your question and for joining EmpowHER. We are not doctors, so we cannot diagnose you, or tell you what to do. We can, however, help you to advocate for your health. Upper abdominal pain can be caused by a number of things such as GERD, celiac, pancreatitis, other mild gastro-disturbances, or more serious conditions. It is important for you to keep track of when symptoms occur (ex., does it correlate with menstrual cycle, or large meals), how long "attacks" last, how bad the pain is, what home remedies or OTC medications you've tried (what's worked, what hasn't), etc. Once you have identified a pattern, you can then look at working with your doctor to rule out some things. Have any particular conditions been ruled out yet? What do you think is going on?
It also is important to track any other symptoms, and if your pain is accompanied by fever, vomiting blood, bloody stools, difficulty breathing, or the pain occurs during pregnancy, you need contact your doctors as soon as possible.
Here is additional information about gastritis: EmpowHER Encyclopedia: Gastritis
Hope this information helps. Take care, and let us know how you're doing.

Gastritis covers a whole host of digestive problems. Did your doctor indicate to you what he/she thinks could have caused your chronic gastritis? I have heard that it could help to eat small meals, and a bland diet for a while, then to re-introduce some foods gradually to determine your tolerance for those things.
April 25, 2011 - 6:45amHere also is a list of possible treatments from our encyclopedia page in case there's something there your doctor hasn't tried yet: https://www.empowher.com/condition/gastritis/treatments
What did the doctor say is the next thing to try? Will the doctor recommend any more tests, or has a scope been done at all to check to make sure you don't have an ulcer or H. pylori infection?

Not sure this information is helping at all. Continue to work with your doctor to determine the best course of action for you.
Take care,
Christine
