There is definitely a great variation in women, as to menopause duration. There is evidence that in a significant number of women, menopause may last up to more than ten years. The earlier symptoms occur, before onset of final menopause( 12 months after the last menstrual period), the longer the period of postmenopause symptoms.
November 2, 2017 - 5:54pmI personally am still in menopause for more than thirteen years already!

Hello. Thank you for your message.
The average length of perimenopause is four years, but for some women, this stage may last only a few months. Perimenopause ends when a woman has gone 12 months without having her period. Most women reach menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, but menopause may occur much earlier or much later for some women.
Once in menopause and on into postmenopause, the symptoms may continue for an average of four to five years, but they decrease in frequency and intensity. Some women report their symptoms last longer. One of the most common symptoms is hot flashes.
