I was diagnosed with pityriasis rosea almost 6 weeks ago. Apparently it takes 6-8 weeks to disappear, but I keep finding new spots every time I shower, new red spots seem to pop up. The first ones I got seem to keep changing. Does anyone know what these spots are meant to look like before they just disappear?

All I needed for PR were three things: Prreze, L-lisine, and a Allergy med.

I had the rash for three days. Went to the Doc on day 3. He immediately diagnosed as PR and put me on a topical ointment called triamcinilone Acetate. After two days of use the visible rash areas were 95% gone but new ones appeared. So 5 days in and I’m now treating the new spots. The original patch is still slightly visible. I’m guessing within a week I’ll be free and clear. I also use hydrocortisone once daily. The prescribed cream twice daily.

I have my second reoccurrence of PR, and was initially diagnosed with granuloma annulare. My second opinion dermatologist said it was PR, which was what I asked the first doctor about, but she had been adamant that it was granuloma annulare, which can be lifelong, and I had been very depressed. However, I asked for a biopsy confirmation and it is PR. He recommended that you let your spots have sunlight, not a tanning bed, and the natural light, about 15 minutes a day on affected areas, is supposed to help. Steroid creams did nothing for it, and I first got mine right at my wedding and honeymoon, and I was soooo miserable and upset. Having it reoccur is an anomaly in itself, and I suppose I need to bolster my immune system. I am very concerned that info states that this can cause a miscarriage, since I am wanting to have a child, and have a recurring issue.

Hello Anon
It sounds like your outbreaks may be stress related.
Start taking prenatal vitamins - they're great for the immune system. They're good for all women actually, whether pregnant or not.
April 2, 2019 - 12:46pmSunlight should help and 15 mins a day is fine and healthy - it'll also bolster your vitamin D levels and your mood.
Best,
Susan

Hi! I've had PR for about 4 weeks now. Started with a herald patch on my arm, and it wasn't concerning until it got to be the size of a quarter. A few spots started popping up on my stomach, and I thought for sure it was an allergic reaction to something, new laundry detergent or something I had been eating. One week prior to getting PR, I got extremely sick out of no where! I was throwing up, and felt AWFUL for almost a week. It was some kind of weird virus, and it's not until I realized that I had PR, that they went hand and hand together.
When I first went to the doctors, they told me it looked like I picked up something from the gym. Some type of fungus. They prescribed me a fungal cream, and that absolutely didn't work. More and more spots were popping up on my torso and near my armpit. A week later I found out it was definitely PR.
It's frustrating because it's something you can't control, and makes your self confidence go DOWN. I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks, and just praying it goes away by then..which I think that is making me stress out more, which isn't good.
I tried everything in the book. Cortisone creams, baking soda mixed with coconut oil, all natural lotions, tanning beds, and I'm currently trying just calamine lotion and keeping the areas DRY. It seems like the dryer the rash is, the better it is. Some spots are starting to peel, and even get darker! Which I'm hoping that means it's healing. Every single time I shower, I cringe when coming out and looking in the mirror. Seems like more spots pop up as soon as my body hits the water. I just ordered "Prreze" off of Amazon, and it's arriving this week. I heard amazing things about it, and I hope it works for me!
Good luck on all of your PR journeys. Try not to stress, like me. Maybe get some CBD oil to help the anxiety/stress. I also purchased that this week to help! If anyone else has any tips to dry it out more, let me know! I only went tanning ONCE, should I go back?

Just wanted you to know that I used Prreze and my PR went away in less than a week. I hated that my skin was all spotted and it was so depressing. Prreze was a godsend to me. Thanks to the people here ho recommended it.

Im on my 6 or 7th week & it's finally almost all cleared up & i hope it never comes back..I've used Dove soap (sensitive skin or white) selsun blue shampoo(I've had to skip days because of dryness) & coconut oil really helped keeping my skin looking normal until it all healed. i now only have a few dark spots...I was mis-diagnosed 2 times before i found out what it was (was prescribed prednisone 1st visit & DON'T think it was a good idea)

I am glad I found so many people with the same problem I am having even though I wish no one in the world to go through this. I am not sure but I believe my story began just a few days after I had my flu shot. suddenly, I there was a quarter size red rash on my neck. I did no think much. after just two day it spread out all over my neck and every single day it got worst. just a week later my whole trunk is covered in red. it was not like a Christmas tree, it was more like a burning sun. my itching was unbearable so I had to stay home for a couple of days. On some part of my body it got inflammations and started bleeding from all scratching. For almost a week I was unable to walk straight because the area between my legs was hurting that much. Did anyone experienced the same?
