I have seen conflicting reports on whether having surgery for an ACL tear causes osteoarthritis or discourages it. I am currently deciding between a rehab option and surgery.

Hi,
Any manipulation to a joint can increase the incidence of developing osteoarthritis. Have you discussed this with your orthopedic surgeon? The extent of the damage will have an impact on whether surgery or rehab is the optimum choice of treatment.
