I am 20 years old and have never had sex. 3 days ago my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. He touched the outside of my vagina with his penis before we put a condom on. Once the condom was on, he tried to penetrate but it hurt really bad so we stopped. He never ejaculated. My periods are usually irregular but the last two months were timely. This month it should have started before we attempted sex, but it did not. It still hasnt arrived. Should I be concerned? I was considering the morning after pill. I am unsure if he even went all the way in. I did not bleed at all.

Hi,
June 21, 2011 - 5:16pmThere is a possibility that you could get pregnant because sperm are microscopically small and there are millions in one ejaculation. Some sperm could have remained on his penis when he inserted it into your vagina.

Yes, anytime ejaculatory fluid comes into contact with your vagina, there is a chance of pregnancy (regardless of how it got there).

Hi kikiemaria,
May 20, 2011 - 9:33amThe risk of pregnancy from what you said happened is low. Please try to relax, and expect your period soon. You likely will get it. If you happen to not get it when you expect, take a home pregnancy test, or call your doctor to request an appointment to get checked out. Now is the time to educate yourself well about sex and what can make you pregnant--and how to avoid it happening when you're not ready for it. The following articles may help. Please take the time to read them, so you can best advocate for your health and avoid the drama of worrying needlessly. If you have more questions after thoughtfully reading the articles, let us know, or schedule an appointment with a doctor to discuss your reproductive health and answer questions about contraception methods that would work best for you.

It has been done...and you would be ok. Just know that, no matter what. In regard to these current symptoms, bear in mind that menstrual symptoms often are mistaken for pregnancy symptoms. The cruel joke (in your case) is that they are strikingly similar. Try to assume it's your period, and remain calm. Hope you get around to reading those articles. There's some great information in there for you.
May 20, 2011 - 1:08pmTake care,
Christine
