Francine explains how she found a great doctor to conduct her hip replacement surgery.
Francine:
Finding the right doctor was really hard because I knew, because I had been married to a radiologist, that I had scoliosis in my spine that went this way. And I also knew, because I am a smart person, that the body, and also because I am a yoga teacher, that the body is connected, and that if you realign one part, you’re going to throw out another part unless you are really careful.
And so I went and started talking to doctors with all of that in mind, and they did not want to hear about it. They absolutely didn’t. I went to about three or four doctors who said, “No problem, we can do that for you.” And I said, "Well, what about my back?" And no exaggeration, almost all of them said, “Your back doesn’t matter,” and quite frankly, I knew from my yoga practice that that was wrong.
So I had to wait until I found a doctor, who happened to be a woman, but, you know, wouldn’t have mattered about the sex, it was really, was it someone willing to sit down and talk to me about the connection between my hip and my back?
