Rosa describes how her eating habits have altered since having gastric bypass surgery.

Rosa:
After my gastric bypass surgery, my cooking habits have changed a lot, drastically, in the good way, meaning we don’t eat junk food; we don’t buy junk food for the house. It’s, we eat mainly healthy stuff, and at the same time when we go out to eat, it’s the same thing. The only thing you can say compared to before, it was like, you know, they bring you the salad first, I save that for the last. So I eat my chicken or my meat first, and then I can save some money on this because it’s like, I don’t have to drink anything, and then all the portions are so big we end up doing like a sharing thing with the family. It is like, they can share what I eat. It’s more like a family thing now. Before it was like it was my plate; this is my plate and this is just enough for me. Now it’s like no, we can share it. It’s plenty. They always have me this only stuff left on my plate.

When we go out to eat I try not to take stuff home. I will, whatever the, myself or the girls, or whoever is with me, eat and then leave the stuff there. I don’t want to end up in the habit that taking stuff home and then later on go in and pick at it–no. So there’s only, I know the difference now when I am like full, that’s it. Before it was like, I would eat it, take it, and continue eating it. Not anymore.
