Dr. David Podkameni
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Dr. Podkameni started his general surgery training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 1996. He then returned to Brazil, where he became board certified in general and pediatric surgery. Dr. Podkameni finished his minimally invasive/laparoscopy training at the Cleveland Clinic in 2004. He serves as medical director of the Banner Gateway Bariatric Center. Dr. Podkameni specializes in Bariatric Surgery and General Surgery.
Focused on treating the whole patient, Dr. Podkameni specializes in:

Dr. Podkameni went to medical school in Brazil at Universidade Federal Fluminense. He did his residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital, St.Vincent Medical Center, and post-graduate training in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. Dr. Podkameni was a clinical instructor at New York Medical College and an assistant professor of pediatric surgery at the Instituto Carlos Chagas, Brazil. He has contributed as an author or co-author to several medical/surgical textbooks, Netter’s Gastroenterology and research papers, as well as numerous presentations at national and international meetings. Dr. Podkameni was internationally awarded Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from Cleveland Clinic. He also speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French, Hebrew (knowledge of) and Italian (knowledge of).
