I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in 2006, when I was a senior in high school. I never realized how many women actually have this condition, and don't know about it. About 10% of all women have PCOS, but only 50% of that number know they do. I was heavy in middle school, and only lost weight in high school by excelling in my high school track and cross-country team, even making it to all-conference. With "Colleges Against Cancer" at my college, I tried my hardest to raise awareness of this condition in any way I could, from fliers on the back of bathroom stalls, to large displays and tabling days. In my post-college years, I hope to continue my push to raise awareness, and possibly save the lives of others.
